A Note From Lisa Woodward

After two decades in publishing — navigating traditional contracts, hybrid arrangements, and the full complexity of independent self-publishing — the only path that never burned me was doing it myself.

Read. That. Again.

I’ve been in publishing (as an author, marketer, publicist, editor, formatter, and publisher) for 19 years and I’ve experienced every possible way to get burned. My best advice to aspiring authors is to set up your system first, then do it yourself.

I know that not every writer wants to run a publishing business.

But with the information available on YouTube and in books and courses offered by people with exceptional credentials, anyone can do it. Start small. You only have to learn it once. If you can write a book, learning how to publish and promote it is a piece of cake.

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I’m unable to offer consulting or publishing services for other authors at this time. We Woodwards will be publishing only my pen names and, if they so choose, a family member or two. I’ll continue to blog and offer insight as I can on LinkedIn and Twitter/X.
